Every sigil activation accumulates corruption points on a 0-100 scale that amplifies damage by up to 250% but triggers catastrophic void rifts at threshold breakpoints. Managing corruption becomes a risk-reward calculation where pushing to 95 corruption maximizes power but risks instant run termination if you cross 100.
Ritual Board Tactics
The 5x5 ritual board transforms sigil effects based on placement geometry. Corner positions grant defensive bonuses, center tiles amplify area effects by 40%, and adjacent sigils of matching elements create chain reactions that execute simultaneously, bypassing normal turn order restrictions.

Meta-Progression Vault
Permanent unlocks persist across deaths through the Arcane Vault system, where collected void shards purchase new sigil families, increase starting mana pools, and unlock ritual board modifiers. Daily Abyss Challenges
Time-limited scenarios with pre-constructed sigil decks and modified rule sets rotate every 24 hours. Challenges impose restrictions like mana-free casting, inverted element effectiveness, or mandatory corruption thresholds, forcing mastery of sigils you might normally avoid while offering exclusive cosmetic rewards.

Sigil Activation Rules
- Each sigil displays mana cost, element type, and positioning requirements before placement on the ritual board
- Activation order follows left-to-right, top-to-bottom board scanning unless chain reactions trigger simultaneous execution
- Elemental counter-relationships apply 50% damage reduction: shadow counters light, frost counters flame, void counters all but suffers 2x corruption gain
- Sigils with "persistent" tags remain on the board for three turns, occupying space but enabling recurring effects without mana cost
Resource Economy
- Mana regenerates at 3 points per turn with a base cap of 15, expandable to 30 through vault upgrades and in-run artifacts
- Blood essence generates only from enemy kills, capping at 10 units, required for high-tier sigil synthesis during combat encounters
- Void fragments accumulate from corruption threshold crossings and enable one-time reality-warping effects that break standard sigil rules
- Resource conversion ratios allow emergency trades: 5 mana converts to 1 blood essence, 3 blood essence converts to 1 void fragment
